Muller Natural Hamstring Injury, Absent How Long?
Bayern Munich have received bad news after Thomas Muller is confirmed to be sidelined for three weeks due to a hamstring injury.
Muller, 28, suffered an injury in Bayern’s 1-0 win over Hamburg in the Bundesliga competition on Saturday. Thanks to that win, Bayern Munich keep their pressure on Borussia Dortmund at the top of the Bundesliga standings, but it must be paid handsomely with Thomas Muller injury.
Muller replaced James Rodriguez at halftime in Hamburg, but after creating goals scored by Corentin Tolisso in the 52nd minute, he was forced off the pitch three minutes later after suffering an injury to his right thigh muscle.
Muller has now provided assists in each of the matches led by Jupp Heynckes. He also packed a goal in his side’s 5-0 win over Freiburg and his side’s 3-0 win over Celtic in the Champions League last week.
Arjen Robben told reporters after the game: “Always worrying when a player is injured, we really do not need it. Thomas is a very important player and our captain is also current. It will be very bitter if he can not play. ”
Javi Martinez is back in training
Muller will miss Bayern’s DFB Pokal match against RB Leipzig this midweek and the two sides match in the Bundesliga on Saturday in Munich.
The German will also miss the Champions League clash against Celtic in Glasgow next Wednesday and a crucial and prestigious clash with Dortmund a few days later.
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich main defender Mats Hummels also suffered an ankle injury at the weekend and his fitness condition is still dubious to take part in the match against Leipzig.
However, in more positive news, Javi Martinez has returned to training on Sunday after not taking part in Bayern’s last two games with a shoulder injury and he can return to the squad in a match against Leipzig. Martinez’s presence will be much needed, because in the absence of Mats Hummels, Martinez can play a rearguard for Die Bayern. (Source: ESPN)
